Question

In London has anyone ever got a taxi to take them and their bike

If so, have you found if a) uber; or b) black cabs (e.g. via Hailo) have been willing to take you with a bike?

Cheers

  • I've put a bike in a black cab. I think it would be down to the driver rather than any specific policy.

used a black cab with no issue, think i took off the front wheel to fit inside, also used them umpteen times with a bikeboxalan

as long as the bike looks clean and isn't going to smear cack all over the cab you should be ok, you could always wrap it in plastic sheeting if you're concerned

addison lee is another option, they explicitly mention a 'cyclecab' configuration on the website, which is the ford galaxy with the rear seats flipped down, for longer rides they can be much cheaper than a black cab
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

Took mine in a black cab from Paddington to Finsbury Park with no issue from the driver other than as I got the bike out the chainset hit the sill of the door and he moaned about oil marking it. If he'd looked at the bike he would have seen a chainguard was on the chainset which stopped such marks.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

+1 Black cab with no issue
  • Black cab not a problem with a cx bike and a slashed tyre.

Thanks. Just moved to tubeless and a Hailo app is now my backup against a ride ending tear in tyre

I've had a few cabbies try to give me a lift on their bonnet before.
