Dear all,

I have been considering this bike, as my first road bike (except for a bianchi that I had when I was a teenager):

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cube-Agree-GT ... 25b6447074

Can anyone let me know if there is anything I should be careful about?
I like the fact that it is carbon with good components. But with the same price, one can get a good alloy bike. Which one would you suggest?

PS: would this bike be suitable also for a daily commute of about 10km (each way) in London?

Thanks

You will have no problems with Cycleclinic - he posts on this website and he generally backs his products with a cast iron guarantee. If I were you I would get in touch, either via Ebay or Bike radar - Malcolm is very helpful and will provide excellent advice.
Alternatively you could contact him via this website:
    http://thecycleclinic.co.uk/
You will need advice with regards to sizing if you are new to this game. The bike comes with a set of his wheels so that is an added bonus.

Are you not now considering a new Cube as per your other thread:

I am considering all the options.
    Thanks!
  • I''ve got a Cube Agree and had no problems with it for a couple of years now. Usually get a good spec for the price you pay as well

I would like to thank everyone for the useful advices.

I am now very undecided within the cube:
    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/cube ... 448e43331d

and the giant suggested by letap73:
    http://www.paulscycles.co.uk/m7b0s6p591 ... EFY-0-2015

one is aluminium and the other one is carbon. But the weight is very similar (I think).
    Any last minute advice?

    Thanks!

Make sure the one you select is the right size for you.

The Cube frame size is 56cm, the same as mine and I am 5'8", and the bike is the right size for me. If you are the same height the bike should fit.

Yes, that is exactly my height :)
Thanks a lot for all your help with this. I'll try and make the decision today or tomorrow, and I can finally stop spamming about my mumblings :D

You would need a medium size Defy which is no longer in stock at Paul's Cycles, so looks like you are buying the Cube.

I'm 6'1" 33" inside leg and have had a 56cm for the past couple of years, 10k + miles and fit's great.

OP if you're 5'8" you want to take some advice and ideally find somewhere to try before settling on a 56 Cube, might be okay but there's a good chance you could get away with smaller

Though if you can stretch your budget to £750 you could have a 2016 Defy 2 if aluminium still interests you.

you are 6'1 and have a 56 cm Cube? I'm about your height (6'2) and have a 60 and even that is a bit on the small side, I had to put a longer stem on it.

Cube's sizing is strange so best to try one before buying.

Thanks for your advice. Why would you choose that bike? the components seem to be similar (both Tiagra), but I would have thought that cube is better because it is carbon (on the other hand, I never had a carbon bike before).

I would like to try it, but I am not sure where. London doesn't seem to have many shops that sell cube, as far as I can see.

The 2016 Defy 2 has 4700 10 speed Tiagra which is supposed to be an improvement over the 4600 Tiagra fitted to the Cube. That is not to say that there is anything wrong with the 4600 Tiagra on the Cube bike, though some people do not like the aesthetics of the crankset design or the external gear cable routing.

I only suggested it because you initially had it as one of your choices along with the Cube, I have not owned a carbon bike either, so can't offer you advice regarding the alloy vs carbon debate.
  • The other half just bought a Cube off Chain Reaction. With the 10% off for British Cycling. £630 is an absolute bargain!

Size 56cm only. I wouldn't worry about the Cube sizing too much, the 56cm has a TT of 54cm off the top of my head. To me that makes it equivalent to a 54cm.
