Cycle clothing for different times of day.

On Monday I plan to ride all the way into work with a large detour. I do shift work, and the morning is expected to be warm('ish!) and sunny, but when I leave work at 10.00pm the temperature would have dropped significantly.
Do I dress for the morning ride or for the cooler evening ride? (I'll probably mostly do the commute back on the train, but am beginning to feel the chill in these old bones!) I don't really want to pack out the small rucksack (PE bag!) I use with too much clothing?

Its always easier to take layers off in the heat, so my vote is to dress for the evening0

3/4's plus armings and gilet stuffed in your back pocket for the ride home. Make sure you're wearing warm socks on the way in, better to have hot feet than cold feet. Sorted."It must be true, it's on the internet" - Winston Churchill0

Thanks. Still finding out the vast array of equipment and clothing available for cyclists. The 3/4 and gilet sound a good option. Not too much to stuff in a pocket or bag, but a variety of 'keep warm' options that I wouldn't have otherwise considered.

Think you will find that gilet/arm warmers are your friend in changeable conditions. I often have this problem when i leave for work at 6:00am and return at 4pm especially in the spring where temps can change by up to 10 degrees or more0
