Afternoon forum goers,

This may seem a stupid question, but does anybody know the length of the brake cable 'outer'(that is under the tape on the bars) supplied in the Campag ergo cable kit ?

I am in a position whereas I need to change mine, but don't want to spend the money on a kit when I have a ton of campag brake cable housing gathering dust in the garage :-/

Many thanks
Regards

It is a stupid question, when you think about it. Regardless of how much is supplied in a full kit, you could measure/estimate what's on your bike at the minute and see if what you have in your garage comes close enough to save you buying more.

What's under your tape will depend on bar width and how far you have them taped. Also how much runs between cable stop and brake caliper will depend on frame geometry and handlebar height.

    Hopefully that helps! :)

  • Hi Ben,

Thanks for that. My issue with copying what I already have is that in my wisdom after watching a GCN video on Pro team bike set up, I trimmed the cable outer to a minimum as they suggested, this only left me with the effect of everytime I turn the bars the F**king back brake comes on Arrrrrrrrrgh ! I wish I'd just left it as it was, plus I've thrown away the piece I cut off so I cant't even estimate what it was FFS :'-(

The rear brake cable routing on my Bianchi is internal and only seems to fuel the fire :-(

Add 2" to your current setup, see how it leaves your steering, and trim back to optimum from there?

Plenty of online tutorials to fitting cables - outers need to work in lock-to-lock position, so need to be cut to fit and you won't find the answer on a forum as each set-up is pretty unique
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
