Battle on the Beach

I am entering the Battle on the Beach for the first time in March this year, and I have been thinking about my tyre selection. The course is 5km on the beach (all hard sand) 5km single track, 5km double track or forest. I was thinking of going with a 29er 2.25" Schwalbe Smart Sam on the front ( Which is already my front tyre) but not sure what to put on the back, I was thinking of a really fast rolling tyre to help out on the sand but would I struggle on the single track ?

Semi slick up front and slick on the backMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
Don't know if a full slick on the back would stand up to the single track sections of the course.0

Definitely wouldn't go full slick.. Not unless you know the course very well and know there's no mud anywhere. Lol0

Yeah, the single track is through woodland so not sure about the puncher resistance. What would you recommend ?0

There's very little mud, the drainage is excellent. But there might be a bit if this keeps up. The singletrack is very dry even on the wettest days.
I was going to suggest file treads, then looked at those Thunder Burts. Look spot on to me, if you want to challenge. If not, use whatevers comfortable.
I'd imagine that 2.25 (assuming a 29er) would be good. Nice to have a bit more width for the dune sections. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
