Hi guys, I am posting this in the hope that someone can advise what UK magazine (I think it was probably Cycling Plus, Cycling Active or Bikes Etc.) had an article in it where somebody recorded their experience of self-building a bike based on a Dolan Preffisio frame set. I might be wrong but I think it was early last year (or maybe late 2014). If anybody can just tell me what magazine it was and the date, I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance.

PS. It would also be good if someone could put a contract out on the tosser calling himself 'theyoon74' who keeps posting sh1te all over this site.

I remember reading that article, though I did not buy the magazine at the time. Could have been in Cycling Active, found this link http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/cyclinga ... ike-140972" target="_blank

DJ - Many thanks - I did Google it but didn't not spot that particular hit. Sods law says that I chucked out a load of old mags a couple of weeks ago and I'm pretty sure that was one of them!

    Again, thanks for the help.

  • This will probably annoy a lot of serious road bikers, I am lets say a mature rider that has come back to road bikes after a long time riding off road. I find it hard to believe someone would spend £1622 to build a Winter bike. This chap clearly has too much money. I bought a cheap winter bike for £40 spent a tenner on it, yes its a low rent brand, but it does have an alloy frame, double wall rims, its a great little bike that rides well and If I bin it, so what it cost so little.

If you are happy riding you £50 special then crack on, enjoy riding it and don't pay attention to anybody else as there is nothing wrong with your outlook. However, I personally do not believe that there is anything wrong with the attitude that says it is OK to spend over £1600 on a winter bike either. If somebody has the necessary cash to spare why not? it's their money to spend how they choose.

  • What makes the least sense about the article is that you can buy a ready-built Dolan Prefissio with full 105 etc for £750. The only major difference is a low-end wheelset & no guards. Weird.
