Disc hub + Rim brake

Hi Guys
I'm pretty sire it's fine but would there be an issue getting a set of wheels built up with disc hubs (thinking DTswiss as they so simple to change axle types) with a rim brake rim that I could use on my current road bike. It's would be kind of a wheel set that would be used on a future new (?cross) bike but I can't afford to buy everything all at once.
It would be useful to have a spare set of wheels for my roac bike, especially as I'm down to do a few cobbled sportives this year. I'd run them without the discs or anything etc...
Thanks
David

Depends on the bike - disc hubs are normally wider at 135mm compare to rim brake hubs, which are normally 130mm. Some frames are spaced at 132.5mm, so that they could take either but dont know about yours.0

Fron is fine, rear as Apreading saysleft the forum March 20230

hmm, but if I got a Disc hub from DT swiss, to run it non disc I'd just have to pull out the 135QR axle caps and swap back in a 130mm cap (which may be harder to find) no?

You are trying to be too clever. If you fit shorter caps chances are the freehub will jam at the dropoutleft the forum March 20230 -

Edit - finally found the techbook on the website, should be fine (if I can find one)
It's not about the freehub, it's about the hub shell... if it's designed for wider dropouts, the flange spacing will be wider. There is no point in having a 130 mm disc hub with longer caps to accomodate 135, so manufacturers take advantage and make wider flanges that build better wheelsleft the forum March 20230
