Hi, I aim looking for a quick bit of advice I am stuck between 2 bikes at the moment and am buying my first road bikes but buying second hand. I have a good friend who races who has been giving me sound advice but I know he's a boardman fan so his opinions can be a little biased. The 2 bikes I have to choose from are the.
Ridley Eos 2011 with tiagra gear set (but am getting this delivered from Scotland)
Or the Boardman comp which suspiciously has had the left shifter changed but has SRAM gear set
These are both around the same price but the boardman is within 30 miles from my house to could pick it up.
Which would you recommend?

How much are you looking to spend?
I'd stay clear of the Boardman as there's a good chance the owner could have come off and damaged the left shifter hence the replacement.
You also need to be thinking of how well the bike fits you and how comfortable you feel on it especially with it being your first bike, probably more important than anything else.0 -
As this is your first road bike, are you confident that the Ridley is going to fit you? Have you been to view it or are you buying it unseen? You can go and look at the Boardman try it for fit and inspect it for damage and walk away if necessary.0

This. And take your mate with you, hopefully he will be able to give you a sound opinion, and two pairs of eyes are always better, especially if the other pair has more experience. Then buy him a pint/brew or two.0
