Newbie...and Wheel Question

Hi - New member and first post.

Road cyclist, three bikes. Old Trek, Basso CF and the most recent acquisition, a Pinarello Dogma 65.1 Chorus 859.

The Basso and the Pinarello both run Campo wheel, Shamal and Zonda respectively. I'm looking at getting a set of deeper rim wheels, but keen to gain any recommendations/user experience.

Sticking with Campo, I'm tempted by the Campagnolo Bullet Ultra 50 Clincher. Available from c£700 for the set.

Anything else I should consider?

Thanks in advance!!

Are you sure you're a newbie? You seem to be spending an awful lot of money on something you're new to. Or do you mean new to the forum?

Either way, welcome! My cycling is lower budget and at a pace that could best be described as pootling, so I'm not really equipped to advise on deep section carbon wheels. No doubt somebody more knowledgeable will be along shortly to help relieve you of your cash :D

Sorry....Newbie to this forum. Not a Newbie to cycling.

Been a road cyclist for over 10 years. Hence the three bikes (and always hankering after another ;) )

Should have added. The Wheels are for the Pinarello, I'm 62 kg and the bike is mostly used for special rides/sportifs and to feel good on dry days.

The Basso runs the Shamals and is an everyday/damp weather/off season.

    Thanks again!
  • I think that with a bike like that you'd be much better off saving and getting Bora One 50s. The bullets are heavy although well made and cool looking. Bora's are great and if you want to stick with campy (which I would) would be perfect. I dont think the Bullets would feel any better than your Shamals which for me are one of the best wheels for ththe money.

    Thanks. Good advice.

How do the Bora One 50s compare with the Fulcrum Racing Speed?

    Thanks again.
  • I thought the Racing Speed were tubulars but I could be wrong. I bought the Boras when they released the Clinchers last year because I'd wanted a set for over 10 years but didn't fancy tubs.

You may be right. Perhaps its only non Racing Speed that are Clincher.

    Thanks again!
  • There are the Racing Quattro Carbons but they are 40mm. Can't praise the Bora 50C's high enough though

Thanks. With the weight saving and only a £2-300 saving, the 50C's seem to be the ones.

    Now to save/justify*
