Wobbly Front Wheel

My bike is always going wrong :( So I recently changed my front tire from a Continental Mountain King to a wider Maxxis Minion :) However, after putting it on I took the bike out for a ride and I noticed the front wheel/tire looked really wobbly and I'm pretty sure the bead is sat nicely round the rim. Is there a way to ensure the tire is inserted evenly around the rim? Could my wheel need truing? I could post a vid to show this problem if need be.

First you need to work out if it's the rim out of true or the tyre not seated properly.

If it's not obvious, take the tyre of and check the rim, it that's straight fit the tyre and see.

Has the new tyre got a folding bead rather than a wire one?

Sometimes you need to put a little air in the tyre and then gently pull the tyre to position it and then put rest of the air in so that the tyre bead sits evenly all way around the rim.

You'll see if the tyre isn't on correctly as there is a line around the inside of both sides of the tyre.
  • I have spotted the problem, a small part of the bead wasn't fitted properly in the rim, hard to spot!
