Hi all,

Looking for my first mtb purchase for about £500 and this is the front runner so far

http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Marin-Bobcat-Tr ... _75095.htm

It only gets 6/10 on the BR review in the £750 category, but the spec on offer for the discount price of £480 is hard to ignore.

Usage will be for general trail riding. I am a beginner 5'10, 83kg. 29er wheels sound pretty good for a novice but open to 27.5 as well.

Can anyone advise whether this would be a good buy or is £500 better spent elsewhere?

Many thanks,

Newbie

Good spec at that price for a 29er, an air fork would be nice but you'd be looking at at least £100 more.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
