Waterproof overtrousers?

So after another dowsing on the commute yesterday afternoon, I am almost there with trial and error at keeping the elements at bay:

Upper half - Rapha hardshell - brilliant at half price!
Hands - Neoprene gloves
Feet - Neoprene overshoes
Bike - SKS Raceblade longs

So the only real problem is the legs. I have various 'showerproof' bib shorts and a pair of NoRain leg warmers, but the wet stuff gets through eventually and gravity tends to send it down to the feet, so is it worthwhile putting on another layer, such as:

I realise that it might be a 'layer-too-far', and be too warm (I do get a clog-on during the commute, and it ain't flat), but I'm guessing something like this might also avoid the trickle-down-the-ankle phenomenon, which renders waterproof overshoes/shoes practically useless.

Does anyone recommend over-kecks? Are there better than those linked to?

Or should I just HTFU.

I got some waterproof trousers from Decathlon and used them once. My legs were soaked in sweat rather than rain.

  • You should definitely HTFU or, preferably, MTFU

Depends how long your commute is and how you dress; I used to commute 6 miles at an easy pace in regular clothing rather than bibs etc and Montane overtrousers were fine for my wet journeys.
