Any tips for keeping feet warm? Wear flats so can't really use roadie neoprene booties. Wearing sealskins with a normal pair of socks underneath but feet still going numb! Worth investing in a decent pair of thermal socks???
Thanks

Decent socks and keep your feet dry!
I use some merino socks from on-one and some army surplus MVP socks that are waterproof.
Only downside is that when it is really really cold my feet only start to hurt once my ride pals have lost all feeling!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Altura Attack MTB overshoes. Specifically for flats, easy on/off, sturdy construction, stop the wind/water getting to your toes. Tick all the boxes for me, so much so I contacted Altura to give their designers some credit (and received one of their neck warmers as a thank you).0

Bought some cycling specific Merino socks today so will give them a go - I'm planning to wear seal skins over the top, is this a good idea??0

I've done it severaltimes, put seal skins over my ski socks - no problem at all.0 -
I put on a pair of socks then a supermarket carrier bag then another pair of socks over them and that keeps the feet warm and dry during the winter....take your pickelf on your holibobs....

This morning I had some normal socks then Sealskinz hydrastop socks, then a small plastic bag, normal mtb shoes and lastly overshoes. Was fine for about 40 minutes, toes weren't warm but definitely not a problem. Then I descended the Downs and within 5 minutes my feet,we're agony and they were not coming back! Will try to go,a lot slower downhill in future, but it was something like -6!0

Had the first opportunity to wear my 45Nrth Wolvhammers this week - toasty @ -8. Putting thick socks over regular-sized shoes just restricts circulation and accelerates cold - if you're serious about winter riding then oversize footwear and some form of windproofing (socks or overshoes) is essentialMake mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

I do this on the road bike in winter. The mtb equivalent of silly overshoes, works a charm.Current fleet

because of me diabetes, I frequently get told that have to take good care of my feet, and make sure they're warm.
try to keep them as dry as you can.
i've found it's worth investing in good quality merino / smart wool socks
don't go with too many layers. can restrict circulation and defeat the object.
one of the biggest things i do is to give them a good moisturize before riding. just seems to help with circulation i guess.
anyway. works for me. give it a go.....like it's golden0 -
I've got goretex boots (northwave), merino wool socks and sealskinz to keep my feet warm. my toes and fingers feel the cold particularly bad.0

Sealskinz good for keeping the wind out, and the rain obviously, defiantly help keep your feet warm.Paracyclist
