Hi there,

Does anyone know much about the Giant Propel Advanced 1 2016 - Road Bike, which can be seen here:
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Giant-Propel-Advanced-1-2016-Road-Bike_84188.htm

There doesnt seem to be an exact 2015 model that has been reviewed. I'd like to know the weight of it, which isn't shown on the Giant website:
http://www.giant-bicycles.com/_pdf/bikes/uk/giantbicycles-77273-propel.advanced.1.pdf

The closest I can find is this one, Giant Propel Advanced 2 in May 2015, which gets a decent review:
http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/reviews/road-bikes/giant-propel-advanced-2

So I'm assuming this latest model with full Carbon and Ultegra will be pretty decent for short distant Triathlon.

I've also been looking at the Trek Emonda SL 6 2015, which looks pretty light and speedy:

Any advice welcome.

Thanks.

The more accurate weights of each model can be found on the Japanese website

I've had a propel now for a few years. Fantastic aero bike that is both comfortable and IMHO fast.

    Two very different bikes here.

The Emonda is traditional type bike with fairly relaxed geometry that's has no aero features whatsoever.

The Propel is a full on aero bike with more aggressive geometry and weighs 1kg more than the Emonda (if that bothers you)

For what it's worth I have test ridden an Emonda SL8 (same as 6 with Dura Ace instead of Ultegra) and it was a nice bike. Surprisingly compliant yet still pretty stiff. The wheels do hinder the performance but it's probably the same for most bikes at that price point.

Actually forget what I said about the weight, I was looking at the 105 Propel.
  • Thanks for the comments everyone.

I saw the Giant Propel Advanced 1 2016 today in the Giant store. Very nice, looked great.

But whilst I was there, they showed me the 2015 Giant TCR Advanced Pro 1 Carbon Road Bike on sale for £1399

    Any feedback on that model?
