First paint chip

Today I came off my bike and the handle bar span round and the brake lever bashed my frame. Unfortunately for me it has chipped the paint.

I'm not feeling great about it, but I'm in the process of getting over it as I bought the bike to use and not to sit and look at (although I do do both).

Can anyone give any top tips on making this any better?

I'm a newbie so please forgive me if this picture doesn't upload...

Stop looking at it and ride. If it bothers you that much you can touch it up with paint or a marker. Probably be a waste of time, you're likely to pick up more.

    Yeah, I thought so.

I suppose that teaches me for taking my bike on the 4x4 track.

I wish it would have happened to my car.

Go ride cover in in mud an forget about it. Like everyone else has said its normal, scuffs scratches chips even tiny dents all perfectly normal.

A topic I expect to see in my usual haunt of road cycling. Be the first of many, the first always stings a bit but then you realise it is a sign it is doing what it is supposed to. Being abused on trails

Now you can stop worrying about getting that first scratch and get on with riding.
My first ride on my Transition I put a really nasty dent in the down tube.

I managed to put a pretty sizeable paint chip onto my Duster loading it into the car (with two other bikes) on its first outing.

Think of it as a badge of honour then forget about it and hide it with dirt.

Bikes without chips and scratches aren't being used properly!

Despite a load of big crashes, most of the marks on my bike have come from strapping it onto the bike rack.

Most of the large marks and chips on my Pitch came from it falling into a below ground hot tub. Go figure.
