I've replaced my Madone for something a little more stylish. Grill planted the seed which grew over the Christmas holidays, frantic searching on the internet and fell in love with it.

I've ridden it twice, Fast and smooth...

  • I like that, well done.

The saddle rails are pushed well back on the clamp though?

some nice tan wall tyres too maybe?

    Yup - very nice indeed.

Maybe trim down the steerer and level the saddle?

Classy ride there. I knew it was going to be good as soon as I saw Ritchey road logic... Maybe to soon to tell but what is you're verdict on the wheels? Are they about £400 ish delivered?

I've put on a few hundred miles on the wheels. Very very nice. Light too. Think I paid around 500 delivered. Sapim cxray spokes with bitex hubs.

Saddles is now as it should be, slight tilt down and 1cm further back. Another 80 miles today. Smooth and fast.

    Beauty!

Can I ask: is that the Chameleon or the Bull version of the R1 bars?? Looks like exactly the sort of thing I've been after.

Looks fantastic. What's it like compared to the Madone?

Some alu/steel bottle cages in black or dull grey would set it off great, the plastic (carbon?) ones look a bit out of place...

I have to disagree - I like the black caged: they work well with the deep rims, black bars, etc and draw the eye in.

They also make the hike look nice and compact - other cages old open up the centre triangle of the bike and make the hole in the middle look even bigger.

    Cheers, i like these cages.

Compared to the Madone 5.9; I cant give a fill opinion yet until i put more varied miles on it. hills, sprints etc.
All I can say it's more comfortable but still as 'racy' or more so as my Madone was the H2 fit.
Its slightly heavier, not by much, probably 500g. Biggest difference is using Mechanical Duraace as opposed to Ultegra 6870 di2. I much prefer the Duraace, the front gear change is better with the QXL rings.

EDIT - yes mechanical front gear change is quicker than di2 with my qxl rings. And yes the di2 was setup correctly. I would of thought the other way round.

I went from 9070 on my Storck to 9000 on my English. Di2 has its place, but for me it's not on a road bike.
