Light'ish 29er Tyre for XC Racing and wild MTBing

Got myself my first big wheeler HT, previously ran a 26er with Nobby Nics and Racing Ralphs.

Not had any major issues with these, the Nobby Nic is more of an all rounder, the Ralphs lighter, but the tread wore down - FAST.

So I could play safe and go with either of these or even the lighter (faster wearing) Rocket Rons. Or willing to try something else. I have had good experience with WTB Wolf (CX) and Michelin/Conti (Road).

I want light/fast, for some occasional XC racing (winter and summer), and some "wild" biking locally (NW) and maybe the odd trail centre, tubeless ready etc. Say £30 per tyre (will need a pair). Once my tyres are on I don't want to be changing them, so it needs to versatile, which keeps me going back to the Nics. What else would you suggest I look at?

  • Rocket Ron's with snakeskin protection would take some beating!

  • Was close to ordering that combo, but concerns over them wearing out fast. I do like Schwable Mtb tyres.

Rons for my money. SS for sure if you ride rocky places.
  • I went for Cont X-King, in 2.4 (apprently more like 2.2).

I was very close to getting the Rons but thought I would try another brand on my MTB.
