Will a 10-speed crankset work with a 9-speed groupset?

I'll need to replace my Shimano Sora 9-speed triple chainset in the near future but they're becoming harder to find (currently in stock at Ribble Cycles, though). Would a 10-speed triple chainset work with my existing groupset? Everything else works fine so I don't want or need to upgrade the whole groupset.

I run 3 bikes with 9 speed drivetrains and use all kind of cranksets and chainrings, from 6 speed u/incl. 10 speed, even some without ramps & pins, all work fine.
