i,m changing crank from 50/34 to 52/36
just playing with the ratios

I'm assuming you're swapping the entire chainset and not chainrings (or if you are swapping chainrings, you know the new ones are compatible with your existing cranks).
Likely adjustments will be the positioning of the front derailleur, it may need to be moved further up the seat tube to compensate for the increase in size of the big ring. You'll need to release the cable for the FD and then set it up again afterwards - you shouldn't need a new inner cable unless it was cut too short before.
When I made jump up to 52/36, my existing chain length was fine.0 -
