I am having real problems loading a course from Connect to my 1000. I repeatedly get a message saying "Unable to send course to device. Please try later.
This is not a one off issue. It seems to happen every time.
Any ideas?

I get that when I connect my 705 and the auto upload kicks in.
Go to the Garmin Connect site and the ride is there. I now ignore the message. The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I am talking about loading a course from GC to the device. Sending a ridden route to GC works fine.
It has eventually worked but I have no idea what changed to make it suddenly work. It is very frustrating!0 -
I drag the GPX file to the new folder in documents in the garmin 800. the course then shows up on the garmin but rarely in the conect web site. For what these things cost I thought they would be easier to use.0

As far as I know, Garmin Connect will not export courses except direct to a device i.e. you can't create a gpx/tcx file. I generally use a chromebook which won't transfer courses via Garmin Connect anyway but the app on my android phone works fine. I usually create courses in Strava now and use the export feature and just copy the gpx/tcx file to the newfiles directory as previously said.0

Use RidewithGPS to create courses and drag them to your device. I know it isn't the same as being auto uploaded to the device from GC, but GC is so fraught with problems it's hardly worth bothering with.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

its seriously easy to download a gpx from Strava and drag it into the newfiles folder on the garmin 1000
you can create routes in strava without being a premium member, suggest you sign up.0 -

This is the bewt advise, GC is terrible for most things and the worst at creating courses, use ridewithgps save your route as a .tcx and save to the \courses folder on your garmin when you switch it on it'll provide you true turn by turn directions including labels overlay on the map at junctions, its a million miles away from GC offering.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.0 -

GC is not the 'best' for route planning and I have had good times with Bikehike and RidewithGPS but have found I now almost always use Garmin Connect for planning road routes as its just simpler and I dont need all the bells and whistles. I use the others if I want to show the sustrans routes etc and use them though.
Anyway, occasionally I get this problem when I have too many courses on my 800 and I have to delete some before I can add more - this is not a bad thing anyway as it forces me not to keep clutter on there that I dont need. I have also had it (I think) when I already have a route (but a different one) with the same name on the device or the same route on there but which a different name - I cant remember which of the two but it has been something like this and a little fettling has got it sorted.0 -
Anybody use this site regularly? - seems interesting - suggest a distance and a number of circular loops can be created from the doorstep which appear to be able to be saved, uploaded to Garmin

Thanks for all the comments. To clarify, I was downloading a course created in GC by a fellow club member for a club ride so no choice from where to get it and can't drag and drop etc. It worked eventually but I am not sure what I did to make it work!0
