'ning peeps

this is reality, however grim, our journey's end *

now less than 24 hours and i get on the plane that will return me to civilization, where there's espresso and food without added cheese, entire days pass without a single powerpoint slide, and a chap can ride his shiny bike

* with apologies to hawkwind
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

Currently in an uncomfortable chair whilst the girl has an MRI. Got in on a cancellation, result. Next week will mostly be chasing follow up appointments.
Got to play with an Enigma machine at the school do for the boy last night. Very cool. Didn't know they were originally developed for bankers in the 20s. Free beer and I wasn't driving. Unfortunately as it was a school awards ceremony I thought drinking too much may have been inappropriate. Managed to embarrass the boy though so that was good.
Later today involves taking the girl to another optician. More specialised so does more detailed tests, ie charges more.
Might play with cars and bikes later.

Just finding the motivation for another zone 2 ride. Later is more episodes of making a murderer on Netflix while I contemplate what I'm cooking for tea.

Watched the first episode, is it worth persisting?

It's grim up north. I thought perhaps this colder spell would bring some clear skies but instead it's just brought colder rain which is piddling on pedalling plan chips.

Good luck on the move TLW, they say moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do. I would change that and say that moving house where there is a woman involved is the most stressful thing you can do.

    After after.

Pushed myself out of bed to get ready for club ride, really didn't fancy it but I've got a new alpha jersey.... Quite a challenging ride to Velo House Tun Wells, 50 plus miles done. Log fire, hot chocolate, European rugby, half man half settee in my sweat down gear, ninny nanga ning.

Is that a Castelli Alpha jacket?

Happy Birthday CB. None of this pomp and circumstance either. Just plain mention in the style of an analyst.

No, not the Jacket, the Jersey. I think the Javket gets great reviews for v v cold like 2° and into minus figures, I run hot, the jacket would be over kill for me. Loving the jersey, I replied on the alpha jersey thread..

IMHO Yes, twists and turns all the way and unbelievable aspect is the access for the film crew to all parties.

One of the best bits of TV I've seen

Hey, us analysts know how to let our hair down too, I remember once a colleague swapped 2 of the buttons around on another colleague's calculator, oh how we laughed.

It's grim down south as well. Went out to walk Muttley in the park/local woods and it was like a bloody swamp. Off to my cousins birthday party in a bit so can ignore the weather for a while at least.

Happy birthday CB, have a good evening.
MRI done, just need to chase an appointment for the results. Optician checked her eyes in more detail but no problems. Ordered some specs for her with funny treatment that filters some blue light, supposedly less tiring which might alleviate some of her sensitivity to light. Will try almost anything at this point.
Quiet night in with beer and pizza tonight.
  • Evenin' all.
Late check in. Lie in, then been foraging with the present Mrs BBG. Found various things at much reduced price, including champagne (who the hell would sell champagne at half price?), pâté and chicken. Now all stashed away.
Just had steak diane for dinner and opened a bottle of red. How 70 s is that? Wish I had some Black Forest Gateau to finish.
v68, hope you get to the bottom of this soon and all will be well.
Fire on and hoofing it down with rain outside. Take it easy, everyone.
And happy bday to CB. I do envy those with a January bday. At least it's over for the year.

Hi darlings, hope all is well.

Well, a day of PTI 101 completed, roll on tomorrow. Nothing too strenuous really, but instructor knew me from my "reputation" at Regiment. Not sure if that's good or bad really, but at least he didn't throw anything at me.

Now relaxing with vino rosso, The Hound and the televisual wonder that is UK Ninja. Bloody brilliant it be.
