Bike Carriers - very specific questions

I replaced the car last September and now don't have a tow bar for my tow bar carrier so I am looking to put the bikes on the roof.
I bought a couple of Thule aero bars and was considering but 2 or 3 of these:

Typically I am a road rider and I knew these would be OK.
However I've just bought a new MTB and it has these new axle arrangements which don't suit carriers which use the QR dropouts. Additionally the 2.3" tyres are too fat for some of the older Thule carriers I have borrowed (meaning I had to deflate the tyres to attach the bike).
I like the idea of the two part, for attached, carriers because the take less storage space and can simply be left in the spare tyre well.
Are there any out there which will take the straight thru' axles and cope with a largish tyre on the back?

Several companies now do axle adapters. Do a search and you will find them.“Life has been unfaithful

If you download the instructions you'll see that the rack you linked to works with either 20mm or 15mm front axles with the supplied adaptors.0

I have a couple Thule 591 Proride carriers. Well made, lockable and solid enough for a 17kg downhill bike.
Also ok up to 145mph on the continent when I'm in a bad mood late at night.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

That's the other model my mate has and it worked fine on the roof. Just a bit bulky for storing (along with several bikes and roof bars and all the other stuff).0 -
I've got two of the older Thule carriers (the ones with the wheel well). They are a bit of a pain with modern wide tyres.
I was looking at either the 591 Proride or Outride 561.Stumpjumper FSR Comp 650B http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=13032340
