Looking for advice please, I have a 2012 specialized rochopper comp and I need to replace the crankset however I can't get a replacement to suit my 68 x 126 octalink BB. How do I find an upgrade option keeping the same chain alignment ?

All Shimano are 47.5 or 50mm (apart from some of the DH stuff), so pick a Shimano. I'm assuming a Rockhopper will have a normal chainline of course.
Why do you need to replace the cranks not just the rings?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

What are those measurements you quote ? Acording to Evans cycles the original acera crankset is now unavailable so was going to upgrade.0 -
The number are the chainline, measured from the centre of the BB.I don't do smileys.

Chainline, distance from the centreline of the frame to the middle ring of a triple (or between inner and outer rings of a double).

Not sure what width BB it's designed for as I can't find it on the Shimano info site but according to the CRC Q&A its a 126mm.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Ah OK, thanks for the info, I looked at a replacement Shimano crank set with the same amount of teeth on it as my original but it is designed for an 118 mm BB would it be simply a case of swapping my 68 x 126 BB for a new 68 x 118 BB ?0

Probably better off just fitting a new Deore HTII that comes with an external BB.I don't do smileys.

Or use that linked to Acera which is meant for a 126mm BB according to the Q&A.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Out of stock at CRC. For the extra £13 the Deore looks much more gnarlier.
