All of my bib tights have that little rectangular tab sticking out at a 90 degree angle from the back of the bib tights(with up/down arrows on it). Ah... what is it there for?

It's just for show, a bit of branding from the manufacturer for the person behind you in the bunch to notice when they're having to stare at your arse... :D

Although conceivably it could have a tiny aero function I suppose!

I'd feel a little more comfortable if they would stare at that little tab instead

I just looked at all of my bib tights/shorts(yes, I am really bored today), and all of my DHB bib tights have the tab, my Gore Xenon 2 bib tights don't, my PI Amfibs don't, my Gore Power bib shorts do, my Gore Xenon and Xenon Race bib shorts do, and my Gordiana Team bib shorts don't(reflective tabs don't count). I'm wondering if the chamois supplier(Cytech) might have something to do with this?

    Correct

A couple of minor details to finish with. I was initially confused by the orange tag on the back, which I (and most people, I suspect) had associated so closely with Dhb bibs as to have imagined that it was actually its trademark. Wrong. It's an Elastic Interface logo (as it is on Dhb bibs).

Now I can sleep comfortably tonight knowing what those tabs are there for.
Just one more minor detail to iron out It seems the color of the tab has nothing to do with pad type, i.e. DHB ASV Roubaix(orange tab), and DHB ASV Black Edition(white tab) have the same endurance pad. DHB Flashlight(orange tab) is mid range pad, and DHB Aeron Windslam Roubaix(orange tab) is not a discipline specific endurance pad.
  • And Assos ones have a big lump on them like someone forgot to remove the security tag.

Sometimes they put a reflective tab on - although thats probably not one.
