That's mine done. Bike Park Wales today, cold wet and windy but fun. Too windy for my favourite trails, A470 & Enter The Dragon (top jumps).
Anyone else get out for the first ride of the year.

Nope. I was nursing the hangover of a lifetime. 2 x hobbits films, 1 Macy's, 1 Chinese takesway& a full series of peep show.

    I know how to hangover
It matters not, win or lose, it's how you ride the bike

Went to Nant Yr Arian with my 11 year old, left home a slight frost no wind got to Nant 24 miles later and holy crap, go out of the car into a freezing hurricane  good thing was getting in the trees out of the wind, on high as a kite D got blown off his bike into a rock bank, mind good job he went that way and not the other as there was a huge drop :D

Yesterday I did full red run in Dalby forest not that good but long and physical, then today for the new year I went straight to the dark side about 45 miles, been neglecting the road bike for a while, could tell when i got on it,thinking "how skinny are these bars"
  • Full of good intentions I got the bike outside the front door before the th heavens opened and damped any enthusiasm I had.

Don't mind it starting to rain when I'm already out. Just couldn't convince myself to saddle up in the rain today.

Had a decent ride on NYE, so nothing yesterday, fly out to India tonight for a short week, so first ride will probably be commuting to work on Monday 11th!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Yes, every uphill was into a howling gale and nearly finished me off. On the upside most downhills were wind assisted and fast.
  • Long NYE ride for me.

Hoping to get out today but otherwise looking at next week as I've kept Sunday out for an unscheduled gym day due to kids still being on school holidays Monday and an Inset day Tuesday.

In anticipation of proper riding in the week, a short spin around the village in order to find out what isn't working properly on the Pitch. Much, it seems...

Easy for me because I live in Brandon in the Thetford Forest so a couple of hours and some real struggles on the trails where the Forestry Commission are logging. No nasty dogs with thick owners either!

Went up my local trails all hopeful, it was hammering it down with rain. Got to the top of a run warden was blocking it off due to a land slip. Most of the others were impassable. Was that bad didnt even see any hard core walkers out!

Sitting here grinding my teeth waiting for my dropper to be fixed! Very frustrating.
All the gear, no idea and loving the smell of jealousy in the morning.

Have you not got an old seatpost you can use?

Fitted serviced forks ( serviced by lbs, very nice chap and very good price) back on the bike and had a 10 mile ride as it was extremely wet, windy and muddy. Perfect mtb weather!
  • Bit late to the party in the end but got a good 20 mile night ride in last night.

Unfortunately, no. A cheap spare might be a good idea given droppers' propensity to go wrong. Should be getting it back this week so I'll be doing some catching up.

Did my first ride here in the Vienna Woods on Friday, Was going great until I came to my favourite bit of my favourite trail and discovered those kindly Forestry people have been at work. This means barging a digger up a beautiful, secluded trail (make sure its a rainy day so it leaves two huge, ugly, dangerous ditches which are never repaired), cut down random trees, throw logs and branches around and feck off leaving it literally looking like its been hit by a bomb.
    Gutted
