Fairly Windy Wednesday

Well it is pretty gusty up here on the North East coast, enough to keep me awake last night wondering if we were losing bits off the roof. The rain is due to come shortly just to round things off. May pop down to the beach to see how big the waves are and watch the local wind farm actually working for a change.
On the plus side everyone was battening down the hatches last night so I made it from Bromley to Redcar in a shade over 4 hours. The downside is there's not a hope in hell of getting out on the bike today, maybe tomorrow if things die down.
Have fun and stay safe...

Frank ruining my Festive 500.
Rules be damned!
If I do a section on the turbo and reach 500 then goal achieved.
I am only doing it for my own motivation after all.The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
At work, as I was yesterday and will be tomorrow
Had one internal phone call to deal with in a day and half and no e-mails. Why-TF am I here? PC brigade wanting people from all depts. in providing cover despite the fact our core work is dealing with construction sites that shut down completely for the Chrismas period, Aris-holes.
Off to see Star Wars later with the kids whilst the wife takes advantage of 2-4-1 cocktails at Revolicion De Cuba with a friend, that could get very messy :?
Windy here but currently no rain0 -
Af'noon
Tinternet connection keeps coming and going. Blowing an absolute hoolie out there.
10 hours sleep and feel like a zombie.
I could ride to Dumfries in 3 hours flat and get the bus home.

Sky has stopped broadcasting now, wind is causing a bit of havoc out there. And muggins here has managed to pull a muscle doing nothing in particular so having to take it easy."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0

Its not often I head out on the bike and wonder if I've made an error of judgement but today was one of those days - both feet and the BB submerged within the first 10k and my jacket absolutely saturated. Found myself in the small ring into the wind on the flat (it was at this point the doubts started creeping in - less than 1/5th of the ride done). Suffice it to say in nearly 60k I didn't see another bike.
And tomorrow it's going to be 0CROAD < Scott Foil HMX Di2, Volagi Liscio Di2, Jamis Renegade Elite Di2, Cube Reaction Race > ROUGH0 -
Star Wars with the kids was good
Just cut a load of wood and now time to light the fire and watch a film with the kids. Later is a babysitter at 6pm, so the wife and I can go to the dinner party via the pub0 -
Nice nature ramble this morning in the mild and breezy weather. Saw a buzzard feeding on the ground and lots of woodpeckers. Nice. Now home having a beer.
Stay safe and dry all.Ecrasez l’infame0 -
Bit blowy here, the huge scaffold on the house opposite makes it sound worse than it is. Just popped into town with the EPO. Now chilling with the kids for a bit. Should do some work on the Mini but back is giving me grief so that kind of thing is best avoided. Pub later as I believe it is Wednesday.0

Rest day today and it wasn't a hard decision to decline a 100 mile ride to Chester and back although some hardly souls undertook the challenge.
Chilling for the final ride tomorrow to nail the festive 500“Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime. Teach a man to cycle and he will realize fishing is stupid and boring”

Had a velodrome session today, twas ok but I don't think I could do it week in week out.
Had lunch in Manchester and a look in The Bike Rooms on Deansgate and a woman managed to knock an £8500 bike off its display stand. Luckily neither the woman or bike were mine.
Now back home to vedge out.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
Oh, and I bought some North Face Powdercloud gloves from Ellis Brighams, a bit of reciprocal business and all that.Advocate of disc brakes.0

@stevo no just a full sus trail bike. 130/140 travel should be more than enough. Friend has just bought a Santa Cruz bronson. Won't be that level ha. As always want to spend as little as poss but the 1-1500 mark is doable I reckon. Without the date raising n eyebrow. Maybe I should get her Botox so she can't0
