Cycling overshoes over trainers?

I use my gym trainers with my hybrid and they work great with the Wellgo MG1 pedals. As the weather cools down my feet are going to get cold. I have Merino socks which will help a bit and a pair of cycling overshoes. Can these be worn over trainers?

Yes. However, on flats, they will get torn to bits fairly quickly.0

I've got the BBB heavy duty ones but I haven't worn them yet. I got them in a sale for a very low price so I'll give them a go as it won't matter too much if they perish. I only need them to last a few rides over winter on very cold days.0

Have you tried food bags over your sox. Works well at keeping the wind and rain off your feet. I've been doing on winter MTBs for years.0

Food bags over your socks still means your shoes get wet. Personally I can't see the point.0

I have some toe covers that go right around the heal of shoe (trainer) so base of shoe is completely clear, yet keeps shoe pretty dry.
They are Campagnolo ones. Look a bit odd, but work v well.0 -

But your feet don't get wet. I've been using plastic bags over my socks when out in the snow for years and it works a treat. Your shoes will get wet under overshoes as well - they don't keep things dry, just warm0 -
You may have to go up a couple of sizes in overshoes depending on the style of trainer.0
