P-Clips my best option?

I've bought a Topeak Super Tourist DX Rack to fit on my mountain bike but unfortunately I've now discovered the frame lacks the required holes.



Are P-Clips going to be my best option?
What are those big holes in the frame? Perhaps there is something that will fit in those?

I've used axiom skewer mounts for mudguards on my road bike, which will work for a rack but depends on how much weight you are putting on the rack. They are a slight pain when if you have a puncture or need to remove the wheel as you need to completely remove the skewer.

You might be better off returning the Dx rack and getting a seatpost mounted rack?

I'd not heard of those skewer mounts before.

I think I'd favour the P-Clips based on price and hassle removing the wheel.

Returning it could be an option but it was a gift and I've cut all the tags off now. DOH!

Yes they should be fine, they will also give you flexibility to mount it out of the way of the brake gubbins.
