Well this season in the alps is very dry and warm, everything you don't want to go skiing. How little snow is too little snow for you? I'm about to cancel my vacation in Austria...

Where abouts? We've got a week booked in Montgenevre first week in Feb. I'm still confident of plenty of snow before then.

I am in West Austria right now, and while I am glad I didn't cancel, there isn't a lot of snow (some places are grassy, and there aren't any black runs open  . It's supposed to get cold tonight and it should snow the next few days :-)

  • Off to the Jungfrau region next Saturday. Webcam show a fair bit of white. Problem I have is that I've put my name down for a jolly boys week in Chatel in Feb and at the moment you'd be better off on a downhill bike! Never mind I'll be turning it on it's head later on by going Saalbach in JULY for some uplift biking! 8)

Well this weeks snow has been very well received! Looking a bit more promising at least for our holiday. Hopefully they have another month of daily snow!

Plenty of snow at Glenshee (just up the road from here) in the last couple of days. Trouble is, no-one can get to it because the roads are all washed away...

I was looking at Glenshee and Cairngorm today actually! Any idea if the roads are likely to be back in place any time soon?

AFAIK Glenshee road from south should be open by weekend, north may take a couple of weeks. Gorm hasn't had so much snow but the roads are fine, and more snow is forecast for the next couple of days.
  • My next resort has had 357cm as a season total so far.

First time skiing in the USofA so proper excited and can't wait!

Looks like plenty of snow coming down all round now, although annoyingly Montgenevre isnt getting as much as I'd have liked. Still two weeks yet so hopefully more to come.
  • Everyone panics at this time of year, we did exactly the same last season and Les 2 Alpes got a few feet just before we left.

    It'll be fine.

ps, WP has over 4m of accumulative snow so far 8)

Yep, we had that last year in the Grand Massif. And sure enough, the slopes were green* right up until a huge dump on the night before we left.
Left to come home, that is

*We did get reasonable skiing by driving further up, so all not lost.
