New brake (pads/block) needed for my Trek Madone
Hi
i need to change the pad on my Trek Madone 2.1, for the first time.
Can anyone recommend a decent replacement. Is it going to be easier
just to replace the whole block rather than just the pad. Looks
like you may need a special key to get the pad off the block.
I'm guessing it will be a standard road bike type of brake but can put photos
up if necessary. The 2015 version of the bike (mine is a couple of years older)
states Alloy dual-pivot breaks

It's just a 2 mm Allen key or similar to undo the grub screw from the brake pad holder - if you haven't got one you can grab it with some pliers held sideways (like a gangsta would hold them) and do it that way.
Usual suspects re replacement: Swisstop, Kool Stop (salmon/black are excellent at this time of year). These cost a couple of pounds.
Clarke said are very good value - I paid a fiver or so from CRC for some that came in holders about 18 months ago, used daily, still going strong.
For N2 bike last Friday I bought some Dura Ace ones - about £4.50 a pair from CRC. These will come with new grub screws so no worries about chewing up the old ones.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
