I would be interested to know how much specialised put into supplying three teams compared to Trek, Cannondale and BMC who are title sponsors but of just one team and how much they think they get back. Also i wonder if canyon will ever start putting bikes in bike shops i know not doing this means they can provide bikes at better value but they surely miss out on 1000s of sales because of it.0

They certainly didn't lose a sale to me.
Bike shop owners in my (fairly broad) experience are a bunch of petty, condescending, smug tossers.
Or inept. Ever take a proper Dutch bike to a UK bike shop? Don't.
I should be a prime customer. (Relatively) high mileage, no space nor willing to do anything but the most basic of fixes and an absolute nerd about cycling.
Only downside of buying Canyon is the even worse service you get from the bike shop owner when you inevitably have to get it serviced.
"Oh so you bought an online bike did you?" *tut tut*.

Mine are only too happy to fit parts I've bought cheaper off the net. They seem to make decent money out of the workshop and I usually stock up on a few gels and other bits while im in there too.
Let name and shame this bike shop so we can all avoid it0 -

I forget the name - it's very generic - but the best workshop service I ever received in London was from the bike shop in Clapham. Come out of Junction and walk Up the hill, away from the main road junction, over the rail bridge and up into the shops at the top of the hill. It's in there somewhere. It doesnt sell any complete bikes, just kit.
They were great (Given that I had to show Rick how to do up a QR, he needs a lot of help :P )We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Main question is when it's not near work or home is what do I do once I've dropped my bike off?
And tbh I've had so many recommendations which have not worked out.
Basically I'm mechanically (in the literal sense) inept but not stupid. I know how it all works, I am just bad at doing it.
Unfortunately I get some mixture of condescension, plumber attitude (*glances at bike, breathes in loudly through teeth, tuts "ooo looks like you need a new bottom bracket" no I don't), and just a failure to understand what o need done.
Anyway, rant over.
Buy Canyon since they're great bikes (as the list will testify to) and screw the shops.0 -
