So I have my eyes set on the Domane, searched the ads and found very good offer on Koppenberg, but it is size 58.

I am 181cm tall with 88cm inseam. But the biggest question is top tube,as I've looked through geometry of my bike atm and Domane,Domane has a bit steeper angle of seat tube than my bike (Bianchi Sempre).
Difference in effective TT lenght are 1,3cm in favor of Domane :?

Looked at some pro's bikes,TFR guys closest to me in height are riding 58cm frame

And the head tube on both bikes is the same height.

    1.3 longer?

Depends on your stem length on your current bike but for a "relaxed, sportive, non aggressive" bike that's 13mm in the wrong direction. Angles dont really affect fit too much, just handling

  • just compare the stack and reach.

Domane is 57.3cm long, and my Bianchi is 56cm.But the seat tube angle makes me thinking that Domane is would be the same if I put a seatpost with no setback.

    Trek Domane (58cm)
    Reach- 56.7cm
    Stack - 40.0cm

    Trek Domane (56cm)
    Reach- 54.9cm
    Stack - 39.5cm

    Bianchi Sempre
    Reach - 56.1cm
    Stack - 39.3cm

The 58cm trek has a slightly longer reach by 6mm and a slightly higher stack by 7mm than the Bianchi, the reach on the 56cm Trek is near enough the same as your current bike (39.5cm) but the stack is 1.2cm lower so if you have no spacers on the Bianchi, you will have around 10-15mm of spacers on the 56cm trek to get a very similar fit.

ATM on Bianchi I have 10mm spacer under the stem.

But wouldn't 58 suit me better?Or the reach difference is less important?
Bianchi is on point with this size and 120mm stem.

Isn't the Koppenberg a different geometry to the standard Domane? I think it's the same as the Emonda, H1 probably.

 Like he says. The Koppenberg is much lower at the front and slightly longer than the standard Domane; closer to the Emonda.

Fit is a very personal thing but, if it's any help at all, I'm 1.9m tall and have a 62cm Koppenberg. Google "trek koppenberg" and mine is the one with red bar tape so you can see how I have it set up. Best bike I've ever ridden.

I googled the Trek Domane Koppenberg Geo and took it from that so I believe the stack and reach quoted are correct unless the Trek website has it wrong?

If you have 10mm of spacers and a 120mm stem on the Bianchi, then the 58cm would be fine with a 5mm spacer (or none at all) and a 110mm stem, then fit wouldn’t be exact but 1-2mm is negigable IMO (although someone will be along in a sec to say otherwise). With the 56cm Trek you will need a 130mm stem and 15mm of spacers to get a close fit to the Bianchi.

Both stack and reach are important as they indicate the position of the top of the HT from the bottom bracket, which is where all rider measurements are taken from.

Yes,the measurements you wrote are correct for Koppenberg edition.
Thanks for putting it all in one place and atm I would go for 58,as I could handle a bit longer stem on 58 (my hands are quite long).

For now I'm going to wait a bit more, but this is the ad: (seller is willing to split the bike on frame only)

I think that's my current dream bike that's within my reach, something about it that's quite exclusive.

There are pictures of Cancellara on Instagram riding a Madone, so wonder if he's moving over to that for the 2016 season?

The Madone must have something if he's chosen it over the Koppenberg which was designed with him in mind, and the 2015 RVV was won on an aero bike.

  • At the end of the day it's a second hand trek on ebay for a lot of money.
Why are there no close-up pictures?

You can message user for more probably (I've contacted him over other forum),warranty on the bike is valid and they would do frame only for 1850€ which is comparable to other team issue bike frames.

Might want to check those stack and reach numbers!
  • They look the wrong way round to me.

58 should be stack 56.7 and reach 40.0.
