TDV did that to my good bike using the underground car park of the local supermarket.
No dramas really - insurance payment allowed purchase of Dura Ace in stead of the Ultegra that was on there and the buffed Ultegra went on the commuter bike, I still take the pisssss years on and the feeling of smugness still hasn't abated (8 years after the event).
Win - win - win situation methinks.

That's been standard procedure for as long as I can remember.
How many hands of LBS owners have been rubbed in the last 30 years on the back of insurance claims?
Odd really - total opposite of a car insurance claims except the hand rubbing emanates from different parties.
The D/A then got moved onto N2 bike and replaced with RED.
The RED was bought for me by my best bud who is a partner at a specialised litigation law firm so has too much money.
We came to an agreement that I would pay him back at £10 a week capital plus interest of a pint and a packet of pork scratchings. I think he gave up after about 2 years.
Needless to say, TDV was not party to any knowledge of this secondary agreement
