Cracked carbon frame at seat post - is it bad?

Riding to work this morning (Avanti Corsa DR) and had to stop at a set of red lights. Once they went green, got out of the saddle to power across the intersection but when I sat back down there was a sharp crack. Turned out one of the two bolts holding the seat post collar in place had snapped off (There was nothing unusual about the way I sat back down either). On closer inspection, a small crack had appeared from the entry hole for the bolt, up and over the top of the frame to the hole where the connecting lug thing (?) goes in. At first I thought it was a scratch or blemish, but when I tightened the bolt I could see that that section raised visibly when I tightened and lowered when I loosened. What's the prognosis? It's in a really awkward place.

Yes that's bad. You need to stop riding it and go back to where you bought it from (if new) or the manufacturer (if second hand) for a repair or replacement. Be careful about how you explain the incident that caused the crack.

If out of warranty get a carbon repair specialist to take a look and give a quote/ opinion. There is another fracked seatpost thread active at the moment, contact details for a number of carbon repair specialists are listed in that thread...
