Whether the rumour of Cancellara riding the Giro means he might have a different level of form at the classics.
Who do you want to lead the bunch in behind Tommeke ?
For me it has to be Sep ahead of Kristoff and Thomas.
Vanmarcke has to be the heir apparent.
Vanmarcke isn't heir apparent to anything. He's shown time and time again, he's overrated.
He's only 25, had one teammate worth a damn at the sharp end of a race and atrocious luck with punctures last year. He's the smoothest cobbles rider in the current bunch and that he could still chase on to the group up the hotondberg, alone, after yet another puncture and 240km of RVV shows how strong he is.
Him and Tisj Benoot are going ot have some cracking battles in about 3 years time.
Fair, but why does he continually puncture? Why is he getting in the wrong positions on the road? With the number he has it can't be bad luck. Also if it wasn't for spectators, he'd have had Stybar and Vandenberg to deal with, Stybar would have beat him in a sprint. Remember a week later he was over 3 minutes back in Flanders.
He won't win a big one this year, he'll continue to be 'unlucky' and people will still pick him for some reason.0 -

Sagan to win Flanders.
Phillipe Gilbert to win another classic and a stage of whatever tour 'cos he's sheer class and has that innate ability to go at the optimum time.
Contador to win the TdF.
Froome to win the Vuelta.
Someone other than Nibali or Aru to win the Giro.
Astana to go bust mid season.
Cancellara to win something.
An interesting Milan San Remo.
A TdF without catastrophic crashes that have an effect on the outcome in the first 10 days.
A TdF that actually lives up to the hype.
A wet, muddy, windy P-R to relish.
A win for Joaquim Rodriguez. He'll be 37 on May 12th and probably amongst a handful of Pro's at that age or older in the pro peloton.
20 successful breakaways over the 3 GT's and hardly a bunch sprint to shout about.
A complete outsider to win the WC
Lizzie Armitstead to dominate the ladies WT.
Cavendish to fire blanks all season. Dunno why. Nothing against the chap but he's just... well, Mark Cavendish.
...and oddly, Valverde to be No1 at the end of the season even though he has a tarnished history, you have to hand it to him for his consistency at 35 (and post drug ban).seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

I'm just not a fan. I have no real dislike for the guy, he just does nothing for me. Same with Gilbert.
and there I was, thinking I was the only cycling fan in the world who doesnt care for Pip...
I like him, I like how you know his race tactic, you know what he is going to do and have all race to try change the outcome but when he is on form there is nothing anyone can do(apart from maybe now Sagan)

Sep will get a whole host of top 5s and never win anything of consequence. Strong as an ox, but no finish.0

Joel, I love ya, fella. But in the spirit of Christmas hubris, I should remind ya that in the 2014 Omloop Pro Race Pundit, you likened a Sky rider's chance of winning, to that of a pig flying
So I'll sit back and watch what Sep does over the next couple of years

Some Belgian Cycling site made the following optimistic predictions for the classics
Omloop: Vanmarcke
E3: Benoot
DDV: Theuns
RVV: Van Aevermaert
LBL: Wellens."In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

Stannard only won because he managed to get in front before the road narrowed, and then none of the EQS guys could get past his arse.0 -

I really really really want a Pickenflick, or a similar Ti gravel/adventure bike with space for 700x35, a nice smooth ride and plenty of practicality for in the park, on gravel tracks, on roads around Tootin' and sometimes in the woods.
Anyone got one? I like the look of the SRAM Rival 1 version.0
