Flag them.
And/Or hide them so you don't see them when you view a ride.0 -
I am normally nowhere near the top of any leaderboard, but there is a certain segment in London where I am in the top ten out of over 20,000 attempts.
I achieved this feat by going through a red light, then the wrong way around a roundabout, and then cutting across an area normally filled with cars on parking meters.

They are probably just sections of someone's regular rides they want to measure. I've a couple like that: bits of road I ride a lot that I like to keep track of. Over time the junctions/lights cancel out and you can see trends. I know I could mark them private, and sometimes remember to. But life is too short to worry too much about things like that.0 -

That's just Darwinism in action!0 -
I'm not on Strava anymore but when I was I was always tempted to leave the GPS on when I was on my turbo and then post that as a segment! see if anyone could follow that!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0

Regarding people doing something stupid just to get a good Strava ranking I agree with the comments about it being Darwinism. They'd only do something else stupid, it's hardly Strava's fault. But breaking into CB's house to use his turbo would be a touch excessive.0 -

It'd be more worrying if I was in my house when someone took the KOM!www.conjunctivitis.com - a site for sore eyes0 -

His sister may visit and so it wouldn't be a break in.
Screw the red light/luck segments I'd get more annoyed at the 20m cresting incline segment or the 10m sprint etc0 -
Yes those short ones are the worst where it seems to be down to gps error - I had one kom doing 45mph on a flat bit of road. I don't think many people bother about koms much once they've been on strava a bit - it's just a way of sharing your training with people you know.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

Nothing wrong with the short ones. I'm 1st out of 50,351 on a short Boxhill segment. 78.8kph uphill! I was feeling good that day0

I make up random meaningless (but safe) segments and give them silly names. A minor amusement when I've forgotten about them and they crop up when I go over them again.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

Quite, but Strava could fix it by mandating a minimum segment distance. It was never meant to be speedtrap software.0 -

Bah Humbug.
as long as they have decent names. Near Epsom there is the delightfully named "horseshit sprint". beautiful.0
