Have now taken the CdF (with g-ones) off road as well as on a fast(ish) club run.

The tyres worked well on a frozen gravel bridleway, I'm not sure they'd work so well in mud given their minimal tread.

The CdF & I coped just fine on the club run, although I did get a few comments about the size of my tyres. It's not the fastest bike around - just because of its weight and the gearing on it, but it's really not that much of a difference.

It did make all the other bikes with mainly 23mm tyres look very under-tyred!

I'm running 35c of these on my XLS, 37c Voyager on my Bivio, and 25c Schwalbe One on my Supersix. The latter looks like rubber bands.

Amazing build and nice to read your feelings after some rides. I have a similar project with this 2016 CdF frame.
Could you please tell me more regarding the sizing ?
As frame geometry has changed from 2015 to 2016 at Genesis, it is a bit confusing. Do you think a medium size would be suitable for a 5'11" (180 cm) rider with 32" (82 cm) inseam ?

The change in sizing caught me out when I ordered my Datum, a large 2015 Croix de fer fit me spot on so ordered a large Datum only to look at the numbers and realise that this years medium is last years large! Changed my order straight away and the medium fits me like a glove, I'm just over 6ft on a medium Datum but have tried the 2016 medium Croix de fer and it fit exactly the same.

I'm 176cm and could have gone with either small or medium, with an 11cm stem, I find the medium just fine. The front end is quite high, but it just means I ride on the drops more.

At 180cm I think the medium should be spot on.

    Hi everybody!
I've just found this forum and i'm very happy cause it's hard to find the same in france! Yes i'm french so sorry for my english!
I've bought a 2016 CdF 20 in S size. I'm not used to this type of bike, i'm from the MTB. My measurements are 173cm (i think it's 5'7'') ans 77cm for my inseam. I hesitated with the M size and the choice wasn't easy.
So i'd really like to have your advice on my choice, hoping to have made the right!
    Hope read you soon.
    Regards.

Smaller is better than too big... I think the S will be better for you than the M, so the choice should be OK

Agreed, at 173cm I think the S is the right choice.

Hope you enjoy riding it! I like mine far more than I thought I would. I've just been on a family holiday in The Lake District and whether it's on road with a bike seat, on gravel tracks or over mountain passed, is just brilliant! :)

All those people doing the Fred Whitton in a couple of weeks are in for a treat, here's a snap of the CdF overlooking Buttermere.

  • Hello,

I have ordered CDF 20 in size large (58cm). I'm 6.17 feet (188 cm). Should I go for XL (60 cm) instead? Got a hybrid 22 inch (60cm) where the seat is pretty high set.

Large should be fine. I'm taller than you (193cm) and ride a large. I don't have masses of seatpost showing on it either. They are pretty big fitting bikes for their sizes.

Thanks guys for your answers about my size questions!
Actually i've done some rides with my cdf and feelings are better even i'm still testing different position because different types of pains after each rides.
For the moment it's the neck so i've lowered the stem at the maximum, we'll see.
It's great to speak with cdf riders. This bike is more popular in england than france!
Maybe soon, pictures of my bike withe the new ortlieb bikepaking set!
Hope i'll could read you soon
