Touching up Stone chips on Steel frame

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
I've got a steel frame that's seen some abuse and has a few stone chips that have rusted a little. I'm treating it to a new groupset, so thought it would be a good time to tidy some of it up.
I don't need to make it perfect (it's my old tourer, new "gravel" bike, so is mainly ridden off-road) and the chips aren't in areas you'd immediately notice. I just want something to stop the corrosion really. I was just going to use Hammerite, but is there something better out there?
The frame is a bright green colour, which doesn't help.

Is it wise to cover up rust, I kind of assumed that you needed something specific to stop the rust coming through?http://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0 -

Yes - just follow the procedure we were all used to when dealing with the procession of "rust bucket" cars back in the day.
Rub down well with emery paper to remove all evidence of surface rust. Go to Halfrauds and get some zinc based primer like this:-

Apply a decent coat to the cleaned area.
Then apply a top coat - Hammerite will do fine if you can find a near matching version or one of the myriad of car touch-up sprays (again Halfrauds)
Since it's only going to be used and abused off road it probably doesn't matter too much if you can't find an exact match0
