Anthem rear shock, service or new?

Currently have a Manitou SR SPV shock fitted to my Anthem. It's old and tired and doesn't hold air too well.
I could get it serviced or, I can get more or less new Fox RP3 Pro Pedal for £80 - i.e not much more than a service.
I assume the Fox is the superior shock - though when it was functioning well I had no real issue with the Manitou
So service or new Fox. Or any other ideas?
Shock length is 150mm, travel 30mm

I'd get the Fox. Shocks don't come any better at that price.
The specific tune can make quite a difference though.I don't do smileys.

150x30mm bit of an odd size for a shock, never heard of one that size before0

6" x 1.25" (I think it may be 151 x 30mm). Fox Float shocks still available in this size0 -

6x1.25 is an imperial 150x30 (Ok so it's 152.4 x 31.7)Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
quite a high leverage ratio on the bike then0

How old is the Anthem?
According to the Giant set up guide the Anthem X has a 6.5" x 1.5" (165mm x 38mm) shock.“Life has been unfaithful
And it all promised so so much”

Get the Fox shock. It will be a major improvement over your existing shock.
If your Manitou isn't working it could end up costing more than the Fox shock when you add parts on to the service cost.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Thanks all
I shall follow the advice and get the Fox shock0 -
One more question.....
Am I likely to need new hardware to fit an RP3?
I've taken the Manitou off and:
The bore of the fixing holes is 6mm
Width across the bushes is 22.1mm (or probably 22mm if I clean it up)
Diameter of the bushes is 15.8mm0 -
Yes. Check BETD website. They have infoI don't do smileys.

Got the RP3
It fitted straight on with my existing bolts, bushes were the same size, so that's a stroke of luck
It's made a huge difference. The old Manitou was probably more farked than I realized. It was insensitive and would then blow quickly through it's travel. Fox seems much more sensitive and progressive. A great upgrade for £80
So thanks all, for the advice0 -
The RP3 & RP32 Fox shocks are loads better than the later CTD models as well.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
