How to install crown race on Cannondale Supersix Evo?

I have a Cannondale Supersix Evo from 2013.
I'm about to install a new crown race, the black one at the bottom of the headset on the fork.

When I put the crown it doesn't go all the way down, it's about 5mm (3/16 inches) left. I'm wondering now, do I put grease on the fork and use little force to press it till the end, all the way down?

I have checked the documentation of spare parts from Cannondale and it say I need KP156 and that's the one I have bought.

So please help me here :-)

Thanx...

The crown race on my London Road was fitted by a local bike mechanic for £10, a price I was happy to pay. I managed the cups into the frame myself with blocks of wood and a hammer after putting the cups in the freezer overnight.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I was thinking about this a couple of years ago and just bought the correct tools (press and c/race installer). Thought I would use them once a decade.

Turns out I use the about once a year a and help out friends a couple of times between then as well - if anything saves messing around going to shops and having to make rubbish conversation for 10 minutes while they do an extremely simple job.

Like all this stuff, buy some and you have them for life.
