Component life indoors

I'm building up a bike exclusively for use on my turbo trainer. Mostly from spares although the main parts of the drivetrain will be new.

I'm just wondering - for no other reason than curiosity, how much longer you can expect components to last if they are just being exclusively used indoors.

Assuming all the parts are clean first then obviously there's no chance of any outside road dirt or mud getting into anything - the chain I would hope would stay clean - there will still be wear of course but rather less than you'd normally expect?

Bearings can still wear out, grease and other lubricants can evaporate, chains stretch . . . I'd keep up with all of the normal mechanical checks.

The turbo bike has over 13000 km on chain, cassette etc and all still running fine. Only thing I have had to replace is the front mech cable.

Did the chain stay looking clean the entire time? Also what lube would you recommend?

Billions of miles on my turbo only bike - chain needs to be degreased and oiled once every few months but nothing major apart from changing the back tyre once every few years (running old road tires that are no longer used on the road bike - no need for trendy turbo only types)

Normal oil that you use on the normal bike.

The chain does need cleaning periodically but I just use degreaser on a rag then re lube with 3in1, never had a problem up to now. Apart from a wipe down after a session the chain cleaning and occasional general lubrication is all it seems to need. The turbo tyre cost me about £15 and has been on there for over 3 years now.
