Got me a Stevens Sonora ES. Found a crack on the drive side seat stay. No crash, didn't drop it. Not sure how it happened. Its got a 3 year warranty its 2 years old this month. Stevens don't want to know. Has anyone out there had any dealings with them?

They don't have a choice about dealing with it, as long as you bought it new. If you got it second hand you have no warranty or rights.

Don't know of any UK dealers, so that could be a PITA

I got it new from LBS. took it to them. They started the claim but Stevens saying its not covered under warranty. They say it is crash damage. Which it isn't. after a week of the shop not getting anywhere i have the bike back and I'm emailing Stevens my self.

A quick threat of contacting trading standards should get things moving. Mention the lack of evidence to support their claim of crash damage.

And fight with the shop, you have rights and much easier to fight here than in Germany.

The warranty is with the shop. They can't say it's crash damage without giving justification for their conclusion.
  • I have emailed Stevens so hopefully will get a response tomorrow.

Your confusing two separate things. The sales contract is with the shop. the warranty is with the manufacturer, which then gives a secondary contract.

You cant enforce the warranty against the shop, you can have a go at enforcing the sale of goods act
  • Hargroves are/were the UK distributor for Stevens. Give them a shout.

  • I probably didn't go into enough detail from the start. When I say Stevens don't want to know that was from Stevens via Hargroves cycles. They have offered me a crash replacement deal at 650 euros. No being happy with that I've decided to take it up with Stevens directly. Hargroves didn't seem to be happy about that and assured me that Stevens had made up their mind and will not budge.
Emailed Stevens my self with more detailing about the history of the bike and I'm waiting to hear back from them.
  • Srevens responded saying its not covered under warranty as from the photo it appears to be caused by an impact. This is not the case. They told me if i feel thia is not the case take it to an expert. Which i did. He told me the carbon is much thinner than it should be which is what caused the crack. It is a warranty job. I informed stevens. They took 5 days to respond with another no ignorging what the specialist had said. They will speak to management and i might be able to post it to them in Germany for them to inspect. I'm pretty sure once they have the frame they can say what they like.
Very disappointed with them so far.
