One of the greatest bike handlers ever, a rider who will be mentioned in any discussion about the best cross riders of all time passed away yesterday aged 70 after a long battle with parkinsons disease and dementia.
RIP

The lunging child is a strong look.
Erik also coached 10 world champions and was noted for his, shall we say, relaxed attitude to amphetamine use. He was also nowhere near as grumpy as his brother"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

In various cycling groups (Track, Cafe's, Races) top riders who thought about going continental might chat about their decisions to stay at home or join a French Club to learn the trade.
The whole peloton had a relaxed attitude to those drugs and so in these days of the Internet and the various Clinics who say they were all on drugs. They are pretty much right  as it's never been much of a problem until the EPO concoctions hit the cycle sport in the 1980's. 8) :shock:Organiser, National Championship 50 mile Time Trial 19720
