Ive just rebuilt R45s onto Pacenti SL23s and the front wheel spokes are showing 1.5mm of thread which Im not happy with. I used DT rev on the front, 288mm with 12 mm nipples. Are these spokes likely to fail in the future?

I don't think they will fail but you could add some washers 4x8x0,8 os so under the nipples.0

Is the tread visible below the nipple or above, i.e. is it visible looking at the spokes, or do you only see it looking under the rim tape? If the tread is showing below the nipple, I'd not be happy and would consider swapping the 12mm nipples for some 14mm. You could always thread a nipple onto a spare spoke, leaving the same amount of thread exposed, I'd only be happy if all the tread in the nipple was engaged with that on the spoke.0

The thread is visible below the nipple on the outside. I could replace all the nipples with 14mm but then it wont match the back wheel. Easiest option though if necessary. Cant rely on internet spoke apps.Pegoretti

If the nipples are the same colour, I doubt you'd notice, well no one else would.0

Weren't these originally 32 x 3 cross?
288 sounds about right for SL 23... surprised they are too short... I would have thought they might be long, if anythingleft the forum March 20230 -

Yes, but you need the DT swiss ones, with a longer inner thread. The Sapim will only mask the problem, not solve itleft the forum March 20230 -

Yes Ive got DT Swiss ones. I can see that the thread does not come all the way to the bottom edge even on those. The nipples Ive used are 12mm DT Hexagonal top.Pegoretti

Maybe that's the problem... the hexagonal head is bigger... you probably just need some 12 mm normal onesleft the forum March 20230 -
