Ill take this one...
I'll be spending today trying to find things to do without appearing to do any actual work. What do you do when the boss is away?

I don't pretend not to work, I just don't. I shirk when the boss is here.
May not be true, but I have to fit in here.
Today will be spent explaining to students why they cheated, then to academics as to why their programmes aren't going to run and that they should pay attention to CMA0 -
Work? WTF is that? I forget...
Woke up today very stiff in all the wrong places thanks to last night's tennis game.
Surveyed the damage to the driveway after the "cool change" (read: screaming southerly gale) blew in about 1am. What a mess. Decided to avoid it and go to town instead. Picked up camera # 2 from the service centre today after its clean... rest of the day was just wasted basically. Dinner done, along with a particularly fine glass of shiraz or two, or three, maybe four? But who's counting, eh?Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
I'll accept it's Wednesday as that means I have to go to the pub later.
Shirking is a strange thing, I consider myself quite lazy and don't really have to work that hard. But there are others around here that keep telling anyone that will listen how hard they work. Those are the laziest motherfuckers I've ever met. If I actually did any work I'd make them look even worse. So now if anyone tells me they are busy I don't believe them.
Need to go out and buy some fancy looking biscuits to send to customers so they think we care. Must get some lunch whilst I'm out. Had to drive in as I've got various things I need to carry home, bunking off early to avoid traffic.
I've only had two cups of tea so far, isn't it about time someone made me another one?0 -

Morning fellow bell ends
Tea tastes shyte in Scotland, something to do with the very soft water, so I hardly drink it. Can't figure that out - soft water is acidic and hard water is alkaline? When I lived daan sowf, I used to drink it by the bucket load and I like my tea weak and my women strong. Apart from friends, it's about the only thing I look forward to if I head in that direction.
FWIW. Lager is disgusting stuff.
Might do some work, then again, I might not.

So far I have dealt with a whinging wife, whinging kids and problematic customers.
I have also dealt with a know it all bloody cockney who thinks that just because his building is 100 years old that any improvements/alterations don't have to conform to current building standards.
I've run out of chopped logs for the woodburner and apparently the tree needs to go up this week, no doubt tonight will involve me standing on a ladder outside in 20mph wind and sideways rain hanging twinkly bloody lights off the fascia boards.
All in all I'm fucked off.Advocate of disc brakes.0 -
dammit. I have to do some actual work Oil change on the engine. Which takes 350 litres of oil, 4 oil filters and a turbo oil filter. Oh well, it's nearly lunchtime and the sandwich shop near me has a Christmas special sandwich filling. Quite nice actually0

Oooh, nice.
Is that a 16 cylinder marine engine?
Looks like the positioning of the filters means that it must be nigh on impossible to not spill oil everywhere when removing them.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
Bizarre. You have a Tea B1tch.. lol.0

Does it run hot in natural gas? What does it drive?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
-
It runs pretty hot, combustion chambers are usually around 400-450degC. We have various systems in place to use the excess heat that is produced; waste heat boilers and adsorption chillers. It powers half of Woking town centre!0
-
Is any of the gas sourced from anaerobic digestion?
I presume that it is driving a AC 440v genny, or higher?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
The gas is from the grid, I'm assuming from the north sea. The genny is 11kV, we can feed back into the grid as necessary, as well as export to our customers0

Blimey, I turn up a bit late to the daily thread and it's turned into a geek fest again...get a grip you lot. Work is consisting of fighting internal battles today, but tonight I'm off to a Christmas quiz organised by a recruiter so it's free food and beer all evening 8)"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered."
