Correct pads for Shimano BR-RS785?

Looking at various pics on the internet of the Shimano BR-RS785 callipers they all seem to fitted with 'Ice Tech' pads.
My new bike doesn't have them and when I asked for a spare set of pads they sold me Shimano BR-M785's and I assume these are what are currently in the callipers. However, searching the M785's online and they aren't listed as compatible.
What pads would you guys recommend and should I return these for a refund and get the LBS to fit the correct pads? I have a feeling that they wanted better pads for something else, removed them from my bike and just dropped in whatever they had.

Are these the ones - they list your brakes as compatible

Exploded view shows the part numbers for the four different pads you can use. I have used the G02A and J02A and can't tell the difference. Then again, not many mountains in Surrey.0 -

Those are the ones I know are compatible.
This is what's in (I presume, I haven't taken one out to look) and what I was sold except the part number is BR-M785.

G03S is listed there and I've just found that number on the back of the packet (in brackets).
I'm 133kg so I would prefer the Ice Tech ones to dissipate the heat. There are some hills in the North East of Scotland.0 -
Mine came with J02A compound.
They brake very well, minimal noise (only when very wet) and have lasted ~3000 miles (much longer than expected/usual)0 -

J02A are the resin ones?
Does anyone have a preference between metal and resin?0 -
There are literally hundreds of after market pads available. As well as metallic and resin there are semi-metallic pads with varying metal vs resin balance and kevlar pads as well. The best pads I have use were from Truckerco and were 60% metallic but I now use cheaper Chinese ones that are almost as good for half the price. The worst pads I have used are the Shimano resin pads that came on the bike. It's really worth having a look around.
Do you have links to the Truckerco and cheap Chinese ones?0 -
I just bought a GT Grade Carbon Ultegra. Fantastic bike and the RS685 hydraulic brakes are brilliant. I thought I would source a spare set of brake pads but when I searched the web I could find the brakes but no explicit brake pads for sale. I took a set out of the front brake to see what they looked like and it turns out they are the finned, j-type pads typically fitted to XTR-XT-SLX mountain bike calipers.
The pads themselves though are the same as the G03S pads for XTR-XT-SLX without the fins. As there aren't any Alpine descents in my part of Essex I though cooling fins would be overkill so I ordered the equivalent S5 kevlar pads from Superstar Components. I use the kevlar pads on all my mountain bikes and they have been great. They wear better than organic pads and don't squeel wet or dry like sintered pads often do. Four pairs for £25 as well rather than £18 a pair for the Shimano sintered finned ones (CRC price).0 -

You want the S5 pads - they will be coded S5K if you order the kevlar ones. If you order the 4 pack then you have to select each of the pairs of pads separately as you can mix-and-match.

These? http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/4-pack-kevlar-disc-brake-pads.htm
Do they come with the finned backs or would I be better buying these to start with? http://www.superstarcomponents.com/en/4-pack-kevlar-disc-brake-pads.htm0 -

Those are the kevlar pads but they don't come with finned backs. As I said in my original post I don't consider those necessary unless you are descending an Alp and even then I'm not totally convinced. If you want finned pads buy the Shimano originals but they probably will squeel in the wet, mine do anyway which is another reason why I wanted to replace them with the Superstar kevlar pads.0 -

Download a copy of the EV-BR-RS785-3743C.pdf file, shows you all the Shimano pads you can use in the BR-RS785 caliper from this link http://si.shimano.com/#categories/133
Also confirmed on this page under the heading ROAD / (Hydraulic Disc Brake) http://productinfo.shimano.com/#/spec/2.4/ROAD/Brake%20(Hydraulic%20Disc%20Brake)0 -

I know which Shimamo pads fit.
I'm interested in the Kevlar pads. I know the ones without fins fit, but I'd like the finned ones but they look a weird sort of shape that won't fit.0
