Which hybrid to buy?

Hello,

I am looking to buy my first hybrid bike. Long story short is that I've always had mountain bikes (front suspension) and am looking for a more rigid bike. Also I am not a fan of drop bars and could never get comfortable with them and so a hybrid seems ideal. I've seen these two...

...and both seem a good intermediate hybrid but just wondered what people think and weather one is better than the other? Or even if anyone knows of better hybrids out there for similar prices? Hopefully this bike will cover another LEJOG next year so durability is a big factor, although I did that last August on a MTB anyway so both should be fine.

Regards

Alex

  • I would be happy with either of those, both good spec.
  • If it were me the Boardman would win out, both on reputation and the looks of the bike. The Boardman alloy bikes always seem to have very nice, smooth welds. Plus, I'm a bit of a recent convert to Sram.

There must be dozens of similar priced/spec'd hybrids out there though, I'd be making my shortlist a bit longer if I were you - and also trying to find somewhere that would give me a decent test ride (rather than just around the car park). Not sure if Halfords do this do they?
