Staying cool in turbo sessions

Hi
So I recently bought a turbo with the intention of using it through the winter, but one thing that is bothering me is how hot I get when using the turbo. I understand that you should use a fan in order to solve this, I would like to buy the cheapest option possible.
My questions is, how big should a fan be in order to be effective in a turbo session? will a small 6 inch fan like this be enough, or do I need a bigger/more powerful unit?
Thanks,
Juan

Something like that won't even scratch the surface. You basically need the biggest, baddest fan you can possibly fit into where you are.
If you're running a single fan you're probably talking something more like one of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4250090.htm
Think about how much airflow you get over your body when you're cycling outside, and what speed that is going at, and also consider your heat will disperse perfectly outside, not build up inside a room, so ventilation is critical.0 -
I did my first year of turbo with one of these fans - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4251831.htm
Set it off to the side and the sweat mainly avoids the bike.
I've now got a second more powerful fan on the floor that looks like Marks. It'd be great if that was mounted higher up though - more effective.
Whatever you get - you'll sweat buckets anyway. Embrace it.0 -

I don't actually use that big fan, it's just what I would get if I have the space, and my wife was allowing it .
I actually have one of these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4250801.htm which is solely aimed at my head. And a tower fan for the rest of me http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4252225.htm as a solution it's not 100% ideal as I still get too hot even with both of those on full blast but it's a reasonable compromise for the space I have to work with.0 -
If I had to get one - I think I'd go for the pedestal fan. Just having it close to me and not blowing through the bike etc seems to be more effective than a more powerful one thats like 5 feet away and blowing through the bike before it hits me.0

If you live close to a Machine Mart then they do really good floor based industrial air movers. I bought a Clarke's one that cost about £35 and it knocks spots off all those cheap/crappy fans that I have bought and had to replace. This:
