Giant Trance 1 2015 would be my choice. Awesome frame, one of the best. Carbon rims, dropper post and generally decent kit for over £100 under budget.
Easily better than the Canyon or Whyte

Seconded though, the Trance is a great bike, although be sure you need that 'big' a bike as the Anthem is a great XC bike that will cope with moderate trail centre stuff without a problem and is a lighter ride.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

Just because they don't own one doesn't mean they have not ridden one and liked the experience. Just because they've ridden one and liked it does not mean it is the ideally suited bike for the riding they do. I've ridden a Trance and liked it, I would recommend it, but I don't own one. I've ridden several other bikes, liked them and would recommend them, but do not own them. If we all owned every bike we like and recommend, we'd all be very poor indeed.Current fleet

I have had two. Only reason I didn't buy another was that they had the stupid overdrive 2 headset and the terrible Fox Evo forks when I bought my current bike.
