9 speed cranks to 11 speed?
Hi everyone,
I've just purchased an 11 speed sram groupset, and wanted to know whether it will compromise the shifting if I change everything else but continue to use the 9 speed FSA chainset that is already installed on my bike.
I know that the chain is narrower, and therefore so is the spacing between the 11 speed cranks, but I was wondering whether anyone had any experience of this situation - and how much of an issue/non-issue it turned out to be.
The reason I ask is that the BB is currently in reasonable condition, and is a square taper so therefore I would have to buy a removing tool for it, so if I can get away in the short run of not changing it, I will.
Thank you in advance.

I would buy new 10 or 11 speed chain rings and stick them on the old crank. FSA usually stick to the same bolt pattern. The old chairings would probably work but if they are worn I would put new on to go withthe new chain and rear cassette to keep all running as smooth as possible.0

If the chainset isn't worn, why not try it and see what happens? Worst case you'll have to replace the chainrings / chainset. (It's sometimes cheaper to replace the whole thing if you find one at a discount somewhere)0
